I’ve seen enough deaths to fill up a million caskets and not once was I bitter.
Not once was my heart heavy enough to carry death like a burden upon my back when I lay my head down at night,
Not once was I selfish,
Not once was a bitter,
I was angry though,
Angry that the truth lies so hidden beneath my wings,
Broken promises upon the surface of my heart
God sent me to earth before I knew I was an angel,
Before I knew I would see tragedy at its highest peak,
Before he would without any type of warning take the only loved ones I had left,
I was left to fend for myself, left for dead,
See they had no clue that I was god’s child,
His angel,
They have no idea
And perhaps they will never find out
Pain tugged at me like an old jump rope
Pulling me apart in sections,
Denying me of my worth,
I took care of myself
Supplying myself with the food in my stomach
And the close that lie upon my back
I clenched tight to what I had left,

Rapped several times,
Mother killed right in from of me,
Grandmother died in my arms,
Boyfriend slowly dying of cancer…
But somehow I still made it,
Somehow I didn’t lose my faith.

I have seen hell before,
But I am god’s angel, so there must be
Some sort of light at the end of this tunnel,
These wings never cracked under pressure,
They grew wider, spread over all the pain
And the hurt,
Stretch far enough to soar over what they thought broke me,
Little did they know it molded me.
And now I can finally spread these Wings that were once fragile and now
Strong enough to carry burdens heavier than
The tons that my heart has carried for so long…
And soar into happiness
Like all earth angels do in time…
